Residents urged to get dose two of COVID-19 vaccination

10 September 2021

Darling Downs Health is reminding residents of the importance of having their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Joanne Shaw, Acting Executive Lead for the Darling Downs Health Emergency Operations Centre, said the second dose was essential for people to receive the full benefits of vaccination.

“The latest advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) is that a two-dose vaccination schedule should be completed with the same vaccine,” Ms Shaw said.

People who received their first vaccination at a Darling Downs Health clinic in Texas last month, will now receive their second dose at a clinic being held next week.

This clinic is only for people who have bookings for their second vaccinations.

“We had a great turnout of people in Texas last month,” Ms Shaw said.

“And it is now really important those people return for their second dose to ensure they are receiving the full benefit of their vaccinations.”

If you wish to receive your first COVID-19 vaccination, please contact your local GP, or keep an eye on the Darling Downs Health Facebook page for more rural clinic announcements.
