Strong Smiles - Dental health screening program

Strong smiles is a free dental health screening program that comes to you. We’ll visit your child’s school or childcare centre and check their teeth to see if they need any other treatment.

This program is free for children of all ages who go to school or a childcare centre.

This is a pilot program but we’re hoping to roll it out across more schools and childcare centres. Check below to see if your child’s school or childcare centre is taking part and when we’ll be visiting.

How does it work?

We’ll take a look in your child’s mouth for obvious signs of decay or other problems. We’ll also apply a varnish which releases fluoride over time and protects teeth from decay. This doesn’t replace the need for your child to have a full check up.

We can provide free treatment and full check-ups for eligible children at our nearest van or clinic. If you have a regular dentist, you can follow up with them instead.

Make sure you register

You need to register your child before we visit.

If you’d like more information you can contact us by calling 1300 082 662 or emailing DDHStrongSmiles@health.qld.gov.au
