Clinical Placements Strategic Review 2020-2021

In 2020-21, Queensland Health conducted a strategic review of the clinical placements program. The purpose of the review was to examine the strategic governance, resourcing, risk, and policy elements of the program and to facilitate its continued alignment with contemporary legislative and governance arrangements. Student Placement Deed holders and other stakeholders contributed their experiences and ideas as part of the review process.

The review was finalised in May 2021 and the Review Summary (PDF 87 kB) outlines the key findings and recommendations. Queensland Health is currently working to implement the findings of the review, including introducing new legal instruments, enhancing policy frameworks for the program, and streamlining communication processes and orientation requirements. These measures will help to ensure that the program continues to contribute effectively to Queensland Health’s objectives for student clinical education and training.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the review, you are invited to contact the project team at QHClinicalPlacements@health.qld.gov.au.
