Allied health assistants

Allied health assistants work with a range of allied health professionals and other health practitioners to support allied health care under supervision.

Our allied health assistants are valued members of the multidisciplinary team. They contribute to service delivery and assist allied health professionals to deliver health care to individuals or in group sessions. Allied health assistants work under the supervision and delegation of health professionals.

We employ allied health assistants as clinical assistants under the Hospital and Health Services General Employees (Queensland Health) Award – State 2015 . They're covered by the Health Practitioners and Dental Officers (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No.3) 2019 (the Certified Agreement).

Qualifications

Holding a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is highly desirable for allied health assistants working for Queensland Health. It is a mandatory requirement for Advanced Allied Health Assistant roles.

Local training is provided to ensure assistants are able to meet specific service needs.
