Our podiatrists are experts in foot health and lower limb care and play an important role in managing chronic conditions. You need to meet certain requirements to practice.

Podiatrists in Queensland Health can work in many different settings in urban or rural locations, including:

  • large hospitals
  • multidisciplinary health clinics
  • community health centres.

They also provide outreach services to remote and isolated communities.

As a podiatrist, you'll treat people of all ages with a wide range of needs and conditions including:

  • high-risk foot care and management
  • diabetic foot screening
  • clinical neurovascular assessment
  • wound care
  • orthopaedic and biomechanical assessment and management
  • renal
  • paediatrics
  • falls prevention.

Qualification and registration requirements

To practice as a podiatrist in Australia, you must be registered with the Podiatry Board of Australia.

International qualifications

If you're a podiatrist who qualified in another country, your qualifications will be assessed as part of the registration application process with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
