Dental salaries

Queensland Health dental professionals are paid a competitive salary and enjoy a wide range of benefits.

Dental and oral health wage rates

Different types of oral health practitioners fall under different awards and wage rate tables:

Hours of duty

Dental professionals generally work a 38 hour week. This can be a normal five day week, a 19 day month or a 9 day fortnight arrangement.

Our staff are either paid (varying from time-and-a-half to double-time-and-a-half), or can accumulate time off in lieu for hours worked in excess of ordinary hours, including those worked on public holidays.

Superannuation (pension)

Generous employer contribution to superannuation of up to 12.75 per cent of your annual salary is provided. Employee contributions are compulsory for permanent employees.

Salary packaging

As a Hospital and Health Service staff member you can access attractive salary packaging arrangement of pre-tax benefits.

Rural and remote area allowance

In recognition of the challenge and change in a rural and remote area, oral health therapists, dental technicians and dental prosthetists are paid an identified amount up to $100 per week dependant upon the location.

Permanently located dentists are paid an allowance (pro rata) of up to 30 per cent of base salary per year.
