Health Contact Centre
The Health Contact Centre (HCC) provides confidential health assessment and information services to Queenslanders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using multi-channel delivery models. The centre is staffed by nurses, health practitioners and counsellors to ensure consumers receive safe, quality and responsive advice. The public can access the HCC via the phone numbers 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) and 13 QUIT (13 7848).
What we do
Our multidisciplinary health care team delivers a diverse range of primary and prevention health services including:
- general health information
- health alerts—being a single point of contact for consumer to gain advice about communicable disease and environmental health concerns
- triage nursing advice
- child health and parenting advice
- chronic disease self-management—The COACH Program
- smoking cessation counselling and support through the various Quitline programs
- suspected food tampering notifications—for the food industry to report intentional contamination of food
- Ryan’s Rule clinical review—being the final option for patients, families and carers to request a review of their care whilst being a Queensland Health admitted patient
- immunisation follow up—contact with consumers (children and adults) who are behind their immunisation schedules
- wait list management & appointment confirmation—contact with consumers to confirm their need for specialist clinics and confirm their appointments
- rapid response campaigns—responding to emergent health issues including contact tracing
- Schedule 8 Enquiry Service—for health professionals seeking advice about drugs of dependence
- 13 HEALTH Webtest—an alternative option to STI testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea
- GP Access to Viewer opt out service—processing consumer requests to remove GP access to the information about the healthcare they received in Queensland Health facilities.
