Medical intern key dates

Once you apply for a medical intern position there are key dates you need to remember. Application dates are on the applying for an internship page.

Offers

Round 1 Offers: Applicant Group A

Group A applicants are medical graduates of Queensland universities who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents and either:

• are seeking an internship commencing in the year immediately following graduation
• have received Review Committee approval from a previous campaign to defer commencement of internship.

General intern applicants

Wednesday 19 July 2023 - we send offers to successful applicants by email.

By Friday 21 July 2023 - if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline your offer.

Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway applicants

Monday 17 July 2023 - we send offers to successful applicants by email.

By Wednesday 19 July 2023 - if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline your offer.

Round 2 Offers: Applicant Groups B to D

You’re an applicant in these groups if you aren’t graduates of Queensland universities who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents. Find out more about group B to D applicant criteria.

Between Monday 24 July and Tuesday 1 August 2023 – we’ll contact successful applicants and make an offer.

Wednesday 2 August 2023 – we release all offers through the online application system.

Friday 4 August 2023 – if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline it by 12 pm (AEST) through the online application system.

Open Round: Remaining applicants

If we don’t fill all the positions in the previous rounds, we have an open round for applicants who haven’t received an offer.

If you’re successful, we’ll contact you from Monday 21 August 2023. You’ll have 48 hours from the date of the offer to accept or decline it through the online application system.

Late vacancy management process (LVMP)

If we haven’t contacted you with an offer in the previous rounds, we’ll contact you to ask if you’re still interested. This will happen from Monday 4 December 2023.

If you’re still interested and are successful, we’ll contact you to make an offer. You’ll have 48 hours from the date of the offer to accept or decline it through the online application system.

We’ll also release the offers through the online application system.

Term dates

Before you can start your placement, you’ll need to take part in a paid orientation. To find out about duration and dates, you’ll need to contact the hospital you’ll be doing your internship with.

2024 term dates

Our Intern program runs for 52 weeks from Monday 22 January 2024 to Sunday 19 January 2025.

2023 term dates

Our intern program runs for 52 weeks from Monday 23 January 2023 to Sunday 21 January 2024.
