Queensland Radiation Oncology Advanced Training Network
The Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, Faculty of Radiation Oncology (RANZCR) has a networked training model across all accredited training sites in Radiation Oncology. Queensland has one training network which covers both public and private training sites.
A training network is a formalised system of training delivery, whereby:
- Training sites are linked for the purpose of delivering the Faculty of Radiation Oncology training program curriculum;
- Trainees gain access to multiple radiation oncology facilities that offer different settings, tumour sites, clinical supervisors, patient groups and cultural issues.
- Trainees gain access to all experiences required to fulfil the curriculum requirements.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for an advanced training position, applicants must;
- Either be an ongoing current advanced trainee in radiation oncology;
OR
- a new applicant who is;
A citizen of Australia or New Zealand or a permanent resident of Australia and fulfils all prerequisites mandated by RANZCR as well as any other requirements required by Queensland Health or the employing sites.
Successful applicants are supported through a competency based training program.
Appointees will be required to rotate through regional and metropolitan training sites. All trainees should anticipate a minimum of 1-2 years in regional training sites.

- complete and submit an online application through the Queensland Health RMO Campaign portal
The online application captures information to assess eligibility and suitability for pathway selection and therefore must be complete.
All supporting documentation must be uploaded electronically and referees consulted prior to completing the online application. Referee reports are generated and emailed to nominated referees automatically once this section is completed via the online application

Interview, selection and offer dates
It is recommended that if your desire is to gain entry to the Radiation Oncology Training Network you should make Radiation Oncology advanced training position your first preference.
Advanced training in Radiation Oncology in Queensland is offered through a centralised recruitment process. This is a statewide process and is supported by the Queensland Network Governance Committee.
Interview Date: Mid August
Location: RBWH Education Centre (due to COVID -19 interviews may be conducted via video conferencing)
Interview process: All network sites are actively involved in the recruitment and interview process. The interview panel is formed by a representative from each training site. Allocation of registrars to their training site rotation is decided by the Network Governance Committee at an annual interview/allocation meeting. Positions will be allocated according to ranking at interview, CV and referee reports.
