Air monitoring

Exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and to radon isotope concentrations can occur at home and work depending on where you are located, the way our buildings have been designed, and how we use them.  

Radiation and Nuclear Sciences has a wide range of radon monitoring and advisory solutions including:

  • radon-222 and radon-220 (and progeny) measurement by active and passive (TASL) monitoring
  • an in-house radon-222 and radon-220 (thoron) test chamber for calibration checks of active and passive monitors
  • particulate spectrometry and mass concentration (10nm to 10µm) investigations
  • passive dust fallout sampling
  • radiation source encapsulation testing to ISO 9978 (gaseous sources)
  • tritium (H-3) in air
  • high volume (60 m3/hour) and personal air sampling for:
    • alpha and beta activity, particulates
    • gamma ray spectrometry, particulates
    • particle sizing using cascade impactors.
