When your baby or child is diagnosed with a permanent hearing loss, it can be helpful to meet the Healthy Hearing Family Support Service. We provide parenting support and therapeutic interventions.

Our team of hearing loss family support facilitators can also help you find the services and support you need. Our facilitators are social workers and psychologists and are trained in childhood hearing loss.

Using our services

You can use our service if you live in Queensland and your baby or child:

  • is aged between birth and 6
  • is eligible for Medicare
  • has a Refer result from their newborn hearing screen test, or an audiologist has diagnosed them with a permanent hearing loss.

You can read more about our services and dealing with a hearing loss in our Possibilities and Pathways guide.

Getting a referral

Your local audiologist will send us a referral as soon as your child is diagnosed with permanent hearing loss. We will contact you after this referral is made and talk about how we can help you and your family.

Contact us

You can contact us directly if you’d like more information or to talk to one of our facilitators. We’re open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
