Implementation of the Government response to Recommendation 2

Youth Mental Health

This recommendation was led by the Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division, Department of Health.

A Project Oversight Group oversaw the implementation of this recommendation. Membership included representatives from the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, Department of Health, Hospital and Health Services, the non-government organisation sector, and a consumer representative.

Quality Innovation Performance Consulting Pty Ltd (QIP) were engaged to:

  • Undertake an assessment of the quality, safety and performance standards of funded service providers
  • Develop a framework for the future state of funded services standards

QIP Consulting’s Final Report for Recommendation 2 – Queensland Health review of NGO Service Agreements is not Government Policy.

The Final Report is being considered by the Department of Health in the context of the findings from the other reports undertaken as part of the implementation of the Government response to the BAC COI Report.

The Youth Mental Health Program Oversight Committee established by Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch (MHAODB), Clinical Excellence Division, Department of Health will oversee the Youth Mental Health Program. The Youth Mental Health Program includes progressing work associated with the outcomes of reports and reviews completed as part of the successful implementation of the Queensland Government response to the Barrett Adolescent Centre (BAC) COI Report. As recommendation 2 has broader implications across Queensland Health, it being managed by Queensland Health’s Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division.
