  Multicultural health data

Culturally competent organisations work to improve data collection and analysis for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Queensland Health collects data about culturally and linguistically diverse clients and analyses the results to inform the development of inclusive health services.

Multicultural minimum data set

In 2007, Queensland Health established a minimum data set for multicultural health, collecting information on:

  • Country of birth
  • Preferred language
  • Interpreter service required

These standards are in line with the minimum standards set out by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in its Standards on Cultural and Language Diversity.

This data is used by Queensland Health to inform health service planning and engagement activities.

Do you think you have been treated unfairly or are you concerned about a decision or action of a health professional?

It is ok to complain, and there are organisations that are independent of the government that can help you, free of charge.
