Outreach Services
The North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) supports an extensive program of specialist outreach health services to all health facilities in the district. The benefits of delivering specialist outreach health services are many and include increasing patient access to specialist care not available in the remote health facilities, maximising patient health outcomes by providing early diagnosis and treatment of health conditions, and reducing the need, inconvenience and cost for patients to travel from remote locations to access specialist care in Mount Isa, Townsville or other secondary and tertiary healthcare settings across the State.
Outreach Service providers include health professionals from North West Hospital and Health Service, Specialist from other Hospital and Health Service districts, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), North West Remote Health (NWRH) and Hearing Australia. The offered services range from Cardiology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Rural Women's GP services, Allied Health (Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, and Podiatry) to Child Immunisation and Diabetes Education.

Who to speak to about visiting
If you wish to provide outreach services at NWHHS facilities, please contact the Outreach Coordinator who will advise of availabilities. The Outreach Coordinator will liaise with the Director of Nursing at the requested facility and schedule a time to suit all parties.
To assist with the scheduling of your visit, please refer to the calendar of the community you are visiting.
Medical Officers and Allied Health Professionals are required to complete the Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice process prior to providing services at any North West Hospital and Health Service facility. We ask that all visiting services provide details of the Medical Officers and Health Professional attending at least three months prior to the scheduled visit to ensure the appropriate Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice has been defined.
