Topics Modules Overview Learning Objectives
1. Strategic Framework National Policy Framework

Topic 1 discusses the national strategic and policy framework for rural and remote health and chronic disease care.

It also introduces the strategic direction for health service delivery in the rural and remote and primary health care setting.

Topic 2 introduces and discusses application of three
evidence based guidelines recommended for use in the rural and remote and primary health care setting.

This includes the Chronic Disease Guidelines and its companion manual, the Primary Clinical Care Manual, their development, contents and
relationship to the legislative framework for best practice rural, remote and primary health care.

The Australian immunisation handbook is also introduced and its utilisation in the provision of the national immunisation program is discussed.

On completion of this topic learners will be able to

  • Define the positive policy environment
  • Discuss the components and application of the rural and remote model for chronic disease
  • Discuss the rationale, content and development
