Department of Veterans Affairs: for veterans who hold a gold card and meet other eligibility for funding through the Rehabilitation and Appliances Program (RAP).

Work Related

If you have suffered a workplace injury resulting in an amputation you may be eligible for funding under the workers compensation scheme for treatment and prosthetic services. Each scheme has different criteria for eligibility. General:

  • Amputees & Families Support Group is a voluntary organisation providing a variety of services to amputees in Queensland.
  • Limbs 4 Life believes that no amputee should go through the trauma of limb loss alone and should have access to an organisation that understands their circumstances, can arrange connections with other amputees and provide up-to-date information. To meet this goal, Limbs 4 Life offers a range of programs and services that assist amputees, their families, their care givers and health care professionals.
  • Amputee Association of NSW The Amputee Association of NSW Inc is run by amputees for amputees. They are a not for profit organisation with a number of affiliated branches throughout NSW. A group of dedicated volunteers are available to help provide information and assistance to all amputees in the community.
  • Amputee Coalition of America is a national, non-profit amputee consumer educational organisation representing people who have experienced amputation or are born with limb differences. The ACA includes individual amputees, amputee education and support groups for amputees, professionals, family members and friends of amputees, amputation or limb loss related agencies, and organisations.
  • ARATA is an association whose purpose is to serve as a forum for issues in rehabilitation & assistive technology. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the use of assistive technology for people with disabilities.
  • artlimb outlines the process of making a prosthetic limb. The site was designed in Queensland and is a useful resource for those about to have their first limb made.
