Radiation Health - Licencing information for x-ray operators - Chest and extremities - Rural and remote (medical practitioners)

This type of licence is generally only available to registered medical practitioners in rural and remote locations. It permits the use of plain film diagnostic radiation apparatus for plain film diagnostic radiography of the chest (lung, ribs and sternum), spine, extremities, shoulder joints, hip joints, pelvis and abdomen, skull and facial bones.

This type of licence recommends that the licensee consult with a suitably licensed diagnostic radiographer whenever radiography other then chest and extremities radiography is required.

To apply for a licence, the following steps should be followed:

Submit the completed application form, with verification of qualifications and experience as requested by the licensing criteria information sheet, to Radiation Health. The prescribed fee must accompany the application.
