Medical Advisory Services

The Medical Advisor:

  • Works with the credentialing and scope of clinical practice team to provide specific credentialing and scope of clinical practice advice to the rural and remote Hospital and Health Services (HHS), particularly in regard to the scope of clinical practice of individual practitioners
  • Chairs the Rural and Remote HHS Credentialing and Scope of Clinical Practice Committee and oversees the committee functioning
  • Works with the Principal Advisor (Medical Employment) & the EDMSs to provide advice to the HHSs on medical workforce matters in the rural and remote setting including medical workforce strategy
  • Works with EDMSs and advises on medical officer training and upskilling
  • Participates in the medical review processes for the Primary Clinical Care Manual (PCCM), Chronic Conditions Manual (CCM), Rural and Remote Online Education & the Standardised Emergency Guidelines
  • Chairs the Editorial Committee for the PCCM
  • Provides clinical governance advice to the HSCEs / EDMSs as requested
  • Undertakes other projects as requested by the Rural & Remote HSCEs
  • Chairs the statewide Variable Life Adjusted Displays (VLAD) committee
  • Provides a monthly report for the HHSs on current legislative matters
