Aerial link bridge installation

The most recent major milestone for works on site was the installation of the first aerial link bridge. Connecting the facilities management centre and the main hospital building, the bridge was transported to the construction site in two sections using semi-trailers and lifted into position by a 350 tonne crane.

The bridge is 37 metres in length and weighs 115 tonnes and will also house chilled water pipes and medical gases. The chilled water pipes are used for air conditioning and cooling systems in the main hospital building, mental health unit and the hub (auditorium) buildings, with a total combined weight of approximately 30 tonnes.
