Engaging the local community to develop their hospital is vital to its success.
Community Reference GroupThe Community Reference Group consists of community representatives from across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions. The group meets quarterly and provides advice for the development of the project and assists with community awareness of the project facts.
Consumer groupsSunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service has established seven consumer groups to provide input into the planning and design of the public hospital. These groups include overall hospital design, mental health, cancer care, children’s care, older person’s care, maternity services and students.
Consumer groups were formed through an expression of interest process and members are participating in a series of workshops to provide feedback on the public hospital design, including the patient journey, wayfinding, interior design and landscaping.
Construction Community Liaison Group
As the builder for Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Lendlease has established a construction-focused Community Liaison Group (CLG) to represent the viewpoints of community members who live, work or represent a community group in the local area surrounding the construction site.
The CLG provides members with the opportunity to discuss any community impacts resulting from the construction of the public hospital, as well as feed information back to their local community.
