(Robert) Donald Whaleboat - Board member Townsville Hospital and Health Board

Biography

Donald Whaleboat is a senior lecturer at the College of Medicine and Dentistry and Associate Dean Indigenous Health, Division of Tropical Health and Medicine, James Cook University. Donald’s experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary healthcare, health promotion and health workforce development spans nearly three decades.

Donald has served as member of the Board since 2012 and is the Chair of the Board Stakeholder Engagement Committee and Deputy Chair of the Safety and Quality Committee.

Donald was a Board member of the Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health Services for seven years and Chairperson for five years. During this time, he led the development of strong corporate governance, quality improvement and consumer engagement for the organisation.  Donald’s commitment to health also led to his appointment to the Board of the Northern Australia Primary Health Limited in 2018. Donald is a graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Master of Public Health.
