The Park - Centre for Mental Health, Treatment, Research and Education

icon The Park provides a diverse range of statewide and local adult mental health services, including extended inpatient care and rehabilitation, secure and forensic care, mental health research and education.
icon First established in 1865, The Park has been known as one of the largest mental health facilities in Australia. In an ongoing commitment to more contemporary and innovative models of care, The Park has transitioned a range of its services to the community and other Hospital and Health Services.
icon The Park has 148 beds on-site and employs about 330 medical, nursing and allied health staff.
icon An 18-bed community care unit is being built at Gailes, and is anticipated to support the transition of patients requiring extended rehabilitation back into their local community in early 2015.
icon The Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research and the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Learning are located at The Park. Both centres are leaders in their fields of mental health research and education, with international recognition.
icon Director of the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, Professor John McGrath, was awarded one of two prestigious John Cade Fellowships providing $3.75 million over five years to fund innovative, world-leading research linking low levels of Vitamin D as a causative factor in schizophrenia.

Services available

The Park - Centre for Mental Health, Treatment, Research and Education (The Park) provides a diverse range of mental health services to the people of Queensland, particularly to those in the south-east corner of the state. The clinical programs include High Security, Medium Secure and Extended Treatment and Rehabilitation / Dual Diagnosis Precinct services.

The Park comprises Supra District services of:

Tertiary level services are provided to consumers of the Southside, Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Hospital and Ipswich sector of the West Moreton region.
