Patients and the media
The Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service Communications and Corporate Affairs team manages all media requests. This helps the Health Service protect the privacy of patients and their families, ensures that any statements given to the media or general public are correct and consistent.
If the media calls requesting a patient’s condition during business hours, our Media Officer will give them a report on a patient’s general condition, using standard terms: good, stable, serious or critical. If media call requesting a patient's condition outside business hours, the switchboard will direct them through to the After Hours Nurse Unit Manager, who may provide a condition report.
If the media calls you directly, please ask them to contact our Media Officer on (07) 5489 8617 (during business hours) or the After Hours Nurse Unit Manager (outside business hours). You do not have to answer any questions asked by the media.
