Free Wi-Fi

To help you stay connected with family and friends during your stay, the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service provides a free Wi-Fi service enabling internet access for patients, families and visitors.

Network name: QH-FreeWiFi

This free service:

  • works on most Wi-Fi enabled devices
  • operates at the following locations:
    • Sunshine Coast University Hospital
    • Nambour General Hospital
    • Caloundra Health Service
    • Gympie Hospital
    • Mountain Creek Community Care Centre
  • does not require a password to connect.

Accessing the Wi-Fi network

  1. Select the ‘QH-FreeWiFi’ network on your device.
  2. Read the terms and conditions. Once you agree and accept you will be connected to the free Wi-Fi service.
  3. You will need to re-accept the terms and conditions after 12 hours of continuous use, or if your device is inactive for more than 30 minutes.

What websites can’t be viewed and why?

Due to network capacity, streaming websites for movies, radio, TV and other on-demand content such as Netflix, while not blocked, are limited in service quality.

Responsible and appropriate use

Wireless access provided by Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service is to be used in a fair and community-minded manner. Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service reserves the right to limit or block certain websites and/or content that is deemed inappropriate in a hospital environment.

Privacy

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service will only collect, use and store your personal information for the purposes of delivering wireless internet access in accordance with the applicable legislation and the Terms of use. IP and MAC addresses of all devices that access the Wi-Fi service will be collected and stored, once you have agreed to the Terms of use.

Terms of use

As this is a free service open to the general public, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service cannot guarantee the security of the Wi-Fi service at all times. Access and use of this network is at your own risk.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that usernames, passwords and security-based information are kept private and firewalls are installed to prevent unauthorised access.

You understand and acknowledge that by using the Queensland Health Free Wi-Fi service to make information available on the internet or any of its protocols, such information may become available to all Internet users. Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service accepts no liability for the disclosure of any such information and is not liable for any loss or damage you may sustain as a result of your use of the Wi-Fi service.
