National Health and Medical Research Council
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service has a responsibility to ensure not only the intellectual integrity of the work being undertaken across its facilities, but also the financial and administrative probity of the work being undertaken in relation to research conduct and delivery.
The Australian and international community expects all research to be conducted responsibly, ethically and with integrity. Below are links to two key documents developed jointly by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Universities Australia. Researchers should be familiar with the contents of these documents as they provide a foundation for the expectations of the conduct of research across Australia.
- Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research which articulates the broad principles that characterise an honest, ethical and conscientious research culture
- National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research for all researchers conducting research with human participants
The Code is also supported by guides on specific topics to encourage responsible research conduct. The following guides can be downloaded from the NHMRC website:
- Managing and investigating potential breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research
- Authorship
- Management of data and information in research
- Peer review
- Disclosure of interests and management of conflicts of interest
- Supervision
- Collaborative research <div class=
- Publication and dissemination of research
SCHHS also has a number of internal policies, procedures and guidelines that articulate our local approach to key issues such as:
- The identification and declaration of conflicts of interest
- Research risk management
Please contact the Research Governance and Development Unit if you require any further information or support with your research.
