Understanding this Direction

This content was last updated on 17 May 2020.

The latest update to this Direction aligns with Stage 1 of the Government’s easing of restrictions and allows more businesses to safely reopen, or expand their level of existing service, while complying with measures to safeguard our community.

From 16 May 2020, this includes allowing up to 10 people in places such as restaurants, beauty salons, outdoor bootcamps, playgrounds and libraries. In the Queensland Outback, restrictions have been relaxed slightly more, allowing for up to 20 local patrons in restaurants, cafes and pubs.

The numbers of people allowed at weddings and funerals will also be slightly relaxed, with up to 10 guests allowed at weddings and either 20 mourners for an indoor funeral or 30 mourners for an outdoor funeral.

For a list of what businesses, activities and undertakings are allowed to be open and under what conditions, including the number of people permitted at any one time, refer to the factsheets or questions and answers under Resources.

For full details, read the official public health direction here.
