Public consultation

Ministerial Infrastructure Designations (MID)

Ministerial Infrastructure Designations (MID) facilitate the delivery of certain community-supported infrastructure, including:

  • hospitals
  • schools
  • police/ambulance/fire stations
  • power lines
  • sporting facilities
  • water supply infrastructure
  • sewerage treatment plants.

The MID process provides an alternative to lodging a development application with the relevant local government and is managed by the department with input from other government agencies.

Satellite Hospitals Program

Community engagement was undertaken as part of the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) process for each site.

Two phases of community engagement were undertaken:

  • Phase one: Preliminary engagement (for 10-15 days) with targeted key stakeholder groups.
  • Phase two: Formal public notification and engagement (for 20 days) with the broader community and interested stakeholder groups.

Feedback from both consultation phases informed the MIDs lodged with the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
