Bamaga Hospital to host Open Day on 8 December

22 November 2017

An Open Day will be held at Bamaga Hospital on Friday, 8 December, and the entire community
is invited to attend.

The Open Day will be held between 10 am and 2 pm and there will also be a free sausage sizzle available.

Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service Executive General Manager North Kim Veiwasenavanua said the Open Day was a chance for the community to visit, meet staff, see some of the services available at the hospital and give their feedback if they wished.

“People are generally always interested in how a hospital works and this Open Day will give them a chance to have a look behind the scenes at how we do things and how it all comes together,’’ she said.

“The hospital itself employs about 30 people, so it’s a significant part of the Bamaga community and economy and many residents would have friends or relatives who work here, quite apart from all those people who receive health services here.

“There will be a number of information stalls, including men’s and women’s health, mental health and alcohol and other drug services and other general health information stalls.

“It’s a great opportunity for the Bamaga community to come along and have a look at their hospital. Everyone is welcome.’’
