The Townsville Hospital and Health Service is proud to be one of the first health services in Australia to trial more open and flexible visiting options to support all our patients, families and carers across our entire health service.
Families and carers play an important role in the health and well-being of our patients, providing essential support, assistance, information and decision making throughout the healthcare process. Our new visiting policy is designed to ensure that families and carers are able to come and go from our facilities at times that suit them and their loved ones, as well as supporting their valued participation in the healthcare process.
Ward quiet times are in place to ensure our patients continue to have adequate rest. Visitors are welcome to stay during quiet times, but are asked to ensure that their loved ones and other patients can get some rest.
A six month trial of open visiting hours began on 1st July, and we would love to hear your thoughts on this initiative or any of our services. You can go to Patient Opinion on www.patientopinion.org.au to share your thoughts on visiting.
Alternatively contact our Person Centred Care Clinical Lead +61 7 4433 2122 or email Townsville HHS Person Centred Care.
