Applications open to join Health Board

North Queenslanders with a passion for health care are being urged to apply to join the Townsville Hospital and Health Board.

Independent recruitment firm Eden Ritchie Recruitment launched the Expression of Interest period at the weekend with applications being accepted until 20 October.

Townsville Hospital and Health Board Chair Tony Mooney said being on the Board had been an incredibly rewarding experience.

“Health is huge, it is challenging and it is complex, but is also incredibly personal, human and rewarding,” he said.

“Members of the Board are responsible to making sure our local health system meets the needs of our community now and into the future.

“It is a big job and it is a tough job but for those who are passionate about health and feel they have skills which can improve our Board, please apply.”

Mr Mooney said he was proud of the achievements of the Board including handing down balanced budgets, seeing all patients within clinically recommended times and expanding services such as the new children’s ward.

“Much has been done but there is more to do and we need exceptional people to help us maintain of reputation as Northern Australia’s leading tertiary health service,” he said.

“We have an incredibly skilled local workforce and the Board’s job is to ensure that we lay the foundation needed to allow them to deliver world-class care to our community.”

Mr Mooney said interviews would be held with Board members to officially begin in their roles on 20 May 2019. There are six positions on the Board which will become vacant on 17 May 2019. Incumbents can reapply.
