Sunbus provides a regular bus service to the hospital, with buses travelling from Stockland to the hospital approximately every 30 minutes. A bus stop is located near the main entrance of the hospital.

Travel support - Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme
For families travelling more than 50km to access services at The Townsville Hospital, there is government assistance available through the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS). The PTSS provides assistance to families who have no option but to travel more than 50km to receive specialist medical treatment. If your condition cannot be treated at your local hospital there is financial assistance available through the PTSS to partly cover the cost of your travel, as well as accommodation in instances where extended hospital stays are necessary.
