Coronary Care Unit Townsville Hospital and Health Service

Overview

The Coronary Care Unit is a designated 8-bed unit that provides the full range of cardiac monitoring (includes invasive hemodynamic monitoring) for patients with acute cardiac conditions. The unit provides full cardiology support, including on-call 24-hour Echocardiography, Angiography, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention and Temporary and Permanent pacemaker services.

Co-located within the Coronary Care Unit are in additional 6 beds for elective cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures. Service provision for the outpatient area is 5 days a week.

The Coronary Care Unit aims to provide a cardiac centre of excellence providing the highest standard of care by fostering partnerships with the patients, health disciplines and community agencies to support safe service provision.
