Overview

The following programs are available to Townsville families.

Programs include:

Early Intervention Specialists (EIS)

Focus on Allied Health professional support for families through the provision of early intervention and parenting initiatives.

Hearing Clinic

Otoscopy, audiometry and tympanometry screening is available free for all children aged four years to eighteen years who are referred with suspected hearing loss or ear problems.

Home Visiting Program

Home-based service to parents/carers in the postnatal period within the geographical boundaries of the service.

Hospital Liaison Service

Hospital-based Child, Youth and Family Health Nurse provides extensive liaison with hospital staff to ascertain families’ needs and initiate follow up within the community.

IMPS

Infant management and parenting skills is a day stay facility that provides support, information and resources for families.

Immunisation Program

Endorsed nurse immunisers conduct immunisation clinics at Kirwan Campus and the North Ward Campus.  Kirwan Health Campus - Monday and Thursday 9am-1pm and 1.30pm-4.00pm and at the North Ward Campus on Wednesday from 9am-12pm.

Information phone line

Provides child, youth and family health information via telephone or face to face.

Lactation Services

Individual consultations are available four mornings per week for specialised lactation advice and management.

'Mums and Bubs' Program at Aboriginal Islander Health Service (TAIHS)

Child health nurse works in collaboration with staff to provide assistance with antenatal and postnatal services for families.

Parent Information Sessions

  • Triple P positive parenting program
  • New baby sessions
  • Development and play sessions
  • Specific topic sessions, including sleep, nutrition, safety and illness.

School-Based Youth Health Nurse Program

Works in collaboration with students, families and school staff to address concerns or problems about health and wellbeing and to create a supportive healthy school environment.

Well baby clinic

Appointments are available for growth and development as well as parenting information and support at Kirwan campus and various locations throughout Townsville.
