Home Care Services

Overview

Home Care Services provide basic domestic assistance to about 700 clients within the Townsville City Council  area. Services are provided on a fortnightly basis, with provision for clients to receive a weekly service dependant on circumstances.

To access Home Care Services clients over 65 years and over 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people contact the My Aged Care Gateway (1800 200 422) for a comprehensive assessment to determine need and priority for domestic cleaning through Home Care Services.

For clients under 65 years and 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, contact your specific Home Care Services centre to arrange for an assessment and to determine availability.

Home Care Services are funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) for older persons and the Queensland Community Care Services (QCCS) for younger persons.

Assessment is based on assisting older persons, younger persons and their carers to continue to live independently in the community, promoting wellness and re-ablement by supporting the clients’ functional abilities.

There is a co-contribution payable for services: this is determined based on your individual income circumstances

Who is the service for ?

The primary client group is older persons, younger persons and their carers, who live in the community and whose capacity for independent living is at risk.

Home Care Services’ objective is to promote re-ablement by supporting the client’s functional ability and enhance wellbeing, assisting you to live independently in the community. Home Care Services is customised to your needs and can provide services on a short term basis up to 12 weeks or for on going long term care needs.

Geographical areas of service

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service geographical reach includes Townsville, Ingham, Charters Towers and Palm Island.  Ingham, Charters Towers and Palm Island are independent Home Care Services and need to be contacted directly in order to access services in those areas.
