Parklands Residential Aged Care Facility - Townsville HHS

Overview

Parklands Residential Aged Care is a 70 bed residential aged care facility providing frail, aged and memory support within the Townsville Hospital & Health Service. All rooms are single with shared ensuites.

  • 40-bed HLC unit (McCarthy Wing)
  • 30-bed Memory Support Unit (Nautilus/Pandora Wing)

Services provided to clients of Parklands Residential Aged Care include:

    • Speech Therapy
    • Social work
    • Dietetics

The facility is lcated at the Kirwan Health Campus in Kirwan, Townsville and compliments the co-located Community Health and residential Mental Health Services.

What are our aims?

Parklands Residential Aged Care provides a multidisciplinary approach to care.  We strive to provide quality care services, privacy and dignity for all residents. Staff aim to create and support an independent lifestyle and freedom of choice in a safe and homelike environment for residents. 

We wish to maintain a quality social lifestyle for residents including friends, family members and community services. Residents, relatives, carers and other health professionals are involved in the individual care planning process.

Who is eligible for services?

Prospective residents must have a current High Care Aged Care Assessment.

Is there a cost?

Residents are required to pay a basic daily care fee. Other charges are means tested fees, as assessed by the Department of Human Services or Department of Veterans Affairs of Australia.

How are services accessed?

Prospective residents complete an application form and lodge a Permanent Residential Aged Care request for a combined asset and income assessment with Department of Human Services (Centrelink).  

All applications are waitlisted and prioritised for admission. Prospective residents are able to tour the facility by making an appointment with the facility.

All residents/carers receive a handbook which contains information on consent, information privacy, compliments and complaints processes and information on services that are provided.
