Surgical Outpatients / Clinics

Overview

Provides outpatient public and private Neurosurgical, Ear Nose and Throat, and Orthopaedic clinics. Also public General surgical clinics including colo-rectal, Breast, High Risk Foot, Vascular, Urological, and Fracture clinics. Plaster Technicians.

Full Opthalmology service is available catering for both Private and Public patients. The Stomal therapist and Continence advisor provide both inpatient and outpatient services based in Surgical clinics.

Referral Process

All referrals are firstly triaged by the Clinical Nurse who will query all urgent referrals with the attending Registrar. All other referrals are then triaged by the appropriate doctor and categorised.
Cat 1 =appointment made
Cat 2 = waiting list
Cat 3 = waiting list
Letter sent to patient and referring doctor

Queensland Health must ensure that access to treatment is based on the patient's clinical need. The time you wait will be determined by the urgency of your clinical conditions identified in the referral letter from your GP.
