Urology services, Townsville Hospital and Health Service

Philosophy

The Townsville Hospital Urology Service provides a comprehensive general urological service covering all urological malignancies, benign conditions of the urogenital system, infections and stones. The department is equipped with Lasers for Prostate, Dornier lithotripter and offers outpatient consultations and day surgery services.

Comprehensive urinary incontinence services including Urodynamics are provided and a Continence Nurse helps to co-ordinate the service.

Urology service is currently provided by a full-time Senior Urologist and a part- time VMO Urologist and coordinated by a Urology Nurse.

Referral Procedure

Referrals from GPs as per Urology department guidelines* to be faxed to Surgical Referral Centre Fax on +61 7 4433 2810. Referral enquiries phone +61 7 4433 2700.

Urgent appointments through the Surgical/Urological Registrar.

*Referral guidelines have been developed to progress your referral to the health service.  Incomplete referrals not complying to the guidelines will be returned
