Applying

We advertise our jobs on the Queensland Government Smart Jobs and Careers website.

Each job will include an Information for Applicants document along with a role description.

The Information for Applicants has information about our organisation and explains what you need to do to apply.

The role description lists more specific information, including the name and contact details of someone you can talk to if you want to find out more.

You’ll need to submit your application using the ‘Apply Online’ button at the bottom of the job page. You’ll be able to save, review, withdraw, and track the progress of your application.

When you will hear from us

If you’ve been shortlisted, you'll hear from us in 1 to 3 weeks after the application closing date.

We may also ask you to provide references and more information, including documents  to assess and verify your application.

If your application is unsuccessful, we’ll let you know by email after we’ve completed our recruitment process.

Pre-employment checks

There are some things we'll need to check before we can employ you.

These include:

International applications

You don’t need to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to apply for a position with us. We welcome applications from all experienced health professionals.

Visas and immigration

If we can’t find any qualified and experienced people locally, we may appoint an applicant to a clinical position who isn’t an Australian citizen or permanent resident. We may also consider applicants on a temporary visa depending on their visa conditions.

We sometimes sponsor health professionals, but you can also apply for some visas yourself. Find out more about visas and sponsorships on the Queensland Health website.

We can recruit international medical graduates if we can’t fill positions with Australian or New Zealand trained medical professionals.

Read more about visas and sponsorships on the Queensland Health website.

Skills recognition

If you have international qualifications, you must be eligible to register to practice in Queensland and meet our health profession standards.
