CQ Youth Connect
We work with young people (aged 14-26) and youth service providers in Central Queensland to provide confidential, youth-friendly and culturally appropriate health services.
Our motto is Care, Connect, Empower, Protect and Respect.
Services
We support youth and help them navigate the health system.
We can provide youth with services, referrals and education in the following areas:
- health assessments
- sexual and reproductive health
- healthy eating, sleeping, and exercise
- personal development
- relationships
- mental health, social and emotional wellbeing
- quitting smoking
- alcohol and drugs
- oral health
- immunisation
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Education for youth service providers
We provide education and information for youth service providers through workshops, conferences (such as our annual CQ Youth Inter-Agency Health Forum) and training such as Core Of Life and Peer Skills. We also develop local resources for service providers.
Advocacy
We advocate for youth to have a voice in the development of youth health and wellbeing policy. We established a Youth Health Reference Group and provide opportunities for youth to share stories at forums.
How to access this service
Young people can self refer. Parents, caregivers and anyone working with young people can refer youth to the service.
