Breast screening

We check for very small breast cancers that can’t be seen or felt by you or your doctor.

Our services

We use a special machine to look for very small cancers in your breasts. A breast screen is also called a mammogram.

Breast screening saves lives by finding breast cancers early when they’re more easily treated.

If you've seen or felt any changes to your breasts, you should talk to your doctor before you book an appointment. There may be other tests that are more appropriate for you.

How a breast screen works

A machine will take at least 2 x-rays of each breast – one from the top and one from the side. Then, 2 or more doctors will check your x-rays for any problems. These doctors are specially trained to look for breast cancers on x-ray pictures.
