The Queensland Health BreastScreen Queensland Program is a population-based, public health program that offers free breast cancer screening and follow-up assessment services for women aged 50 to 69 years. This is the age group where research shows screening to be most beneficial. Women aged 40 to 49 years and 70 years and older can also attend if they choose.
The Queensland Health BreastScreen Queensland Program is made available to women through a network of local services throughout Queensland including 11 fixed site screening and assessment services, 13 satellite (screening only) services, four relocatable services and three mobile services that offer screening at over 200 locations throughout Queensland.
The Queensland Health BreastScreen Queensland Program is the state component of the national breast cancer screening program, BreastScreen Australia. The BreastScreen Queensland Program operates in accordance with national standards and guidelines.
