We have an exciting opportunity for our local Aboriginal and Torres strait islander artists and graphic designers. The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service have recently undergone a ‘rebrand’ in order to better connect with our staff and community. As part of this project, the we are looking at commissioning some unique indigenous artwork that both represents our health service, our region and complements our existing brand. The artwork will be used in brochures, posters, online, and more.
Three new staff accommodation houses, costing $1.5M, have been opened at the Mareeba Hospital. Member for Cook, Cynthia Lui, said the project was part of the government’s commitment to the improving health services in regional Queensland.

For most of us, a phone call at 3am a few days before Christmas would be unwelcome, but for Cairns nurse Anna Lillie, it was life-changing. Anna was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 11 and required daily dialysis after her kidneys failed at aged 30.
