Queensland Gastroenterology Advanced Training Program
The advanced training in gastroenterology is offered through a state-wide process supported by the Directors of Queensland’s tertiary hospitals with advanced training accredited positions. The program facilitates centralised recruitment to gastroenterology registrar positions across the state, for advanced training year one. Trainees remain on the program for the duration of two core advanced training years, subject to satisfactory performance.
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria for new applicants:
- general registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- registration with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
- in the process of completing the FRACP clinical examination (both written and practical) or successfully completed the examination and basic physician training.
- have an interest in gastroenterology.

Interview, selection and offers
Gastroenterology and Hepatology first year interviews of short-listed candidates will be held soon after the release of the RACP clinical exam results.The recruitment and selection process will comply with relevant Queensland Health human resource policies including the principles of equal employment opportunity. Assessment criteria to determine eligibility and suitability of applicants for appointment to positions within training facilities can be found in the How to apply guide. Second year trainees with be contacted and interviewed by individual training facilities.
The selection process will be a panel interview with the directors (or delegates) of each facility, which must be attended in person. Positions will be allocated primarily according to ranking after interview with consideration of the CV and referee reports, and other mitigating circumstances.
