Queensland Infectious Diseases Advanced Training Network
Infectious Diseases advanced training in Queensland offers a unique opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and experience in all facets of contemporary infectious diseases practice.
Diverse positions available across the state mean that a trainee can potentially gain experience in:
- tropical and community-acquired infection
- antimicrobial stewardship
- quaternary hospital services
- solid organ and stem cell transplant infections
- outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy
- blood-borne-virus management
- sexual health
- infection control
A statewide approach to recruitment and rotation ensures that candidates will enjoy a rounded and complete training experience. Trainees are supported with numerous local and collaborative educational events including city wide meetings and regular statewide teleconferences. Previous infectious diseases advanced trainees from Queensland occupy prominent clinical, educational and research positions around Australia and global.
Virtual Information Meeting details:
The Queensland Infectious Diseases Advanced Training Virtual Information Meeting (the meeting) will be held on Tuesday, 7 June 1730 to 1830 AEST click for Team Meeting link. The meeting will outline a brief overview of the training provided through the network, followed by a short summary from each training site and an opportunity for prospective trainees to ask questions.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for an advanced training position applicants must:
- hold current general medical registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- have satisfactorily completed Basic Training
- successfully complete the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Written Examination and planning to sit the Clinical Examination

Interview, selection and offer dates
Interview date: 23 August 2022
Location of interview: Princess Alexandra Hospital
Interview process: Group interviews with the Directors (or delegates) of each hospital
Selection process: Positions will be allocated primarily according to ranking during interview, CV, cover letter and other mitigating circumstances.
Other information: Applications for consideration regarding difficulties with potential rotations to specific hospitals will be considered within reason. However, training in one particular area cannot be guaranteed.
