Caloundra Health Service is located in the southern end of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service region, approximately 8km southeast of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) and 40km south of Nambour General Hospital.

The major Emergency Department at Sunshine Coast University Hospital is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week:

There is no longer an Emergency Department at Caloundra Health Service – SCUH is just 8km away.

This change will ensure patients with emergency health care needs are treated at the most clinically advanced facility available to them.

Minor Injury and Illness Clinic

A Minor Injury and Illness Clinic operates at Caloundra Health Service, from 9.00am to 9.00pm, seven days a week. The clinic is designed to treat patients whose needs are non-life threatening, for example:

  • Fever, coughs, colds
  • Ear ache
  • Tooth ache
  • Minor eye issues
  • Uncomplicated broken bones
  • Minor cuts, burns, scalds
  • Infections, rashes
  • Strains, sprains

Patients with non-urgent needs should first contact their usual G.P. where possible. For information on the nearest G.P. to you, visit the Health Direct website. If you cannot get an appointment, you can visit the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic:

Changes to Caloundra Health Service

The role of Caloundra Health Service is changing, with the nearby Sunshine Coast University Hospital now open. Caloundra Health Service will be refurbished to ensure it is fit for purpose into the future. Services remaining at Caloundra Health Service include:

  • Community Health
  • Renal Dialysis
  • Oral Health
  • Child Health
  • A new Minor Injury and Illness Clinic.
