School based traineeships

Queensland Health may partner with a nominated Group Training Organiser to offer a school-based traineeship program. This traineeship provides a potential pathway for high-school students into longer-term employment in support of Queensland’s efforts to reduce the youth unemployment rate.

Year 11 and 12 students will complete one day per week in paid work experience (375 hours equivalent) while completing a Certificate III qualification and will receive points towards a Queensland Certificate of Education (GCE).

Work experience and placement programs

We partner with the University of Queensland to provide unpaid, non-clinical student work experience within Queensland Health.

The Student Work Experience Program aims to support capability building of university students who are required to complete placement to finalise their degree. As a student, you have an opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge to support the delivery of health services and government agenda.

Work experience placements are offered annually for 6 weeks during summer and winter cohorts and have the opportunity to work in multiple disciplinary areas within Queensland Health that best suit your career pathway.
