Food safety programs
The requirement to have a food safety program applies to a licensed food business if:
-
The food business conducts off-site catering
-
The primary activity of the food business is on-site catering at the premises stated in the licence
-
The primary activity of the food business is on-site catering at part of the premises stated in the licence. However, where on-site catering is the primary activity at part of the premises, only those businesses using a section of their food business for catering to 200 or more people on 12 or more occasions per year, are required to have a food safety program
-
The food business must apply to the local government with which the food business licence is held, for accreditation of the food safety program. The accredited food safety program must be audited by an approved auditor within six months of accreditation of the food safety program and thereafter, at a frequency that is determined by the local government with which the business is accredited.
