Queensland Health Public Health Units

Queensland Health Public Health Units enforce the provisions of the Food Act 2006 that are the responsibility of Queensland Health. Contact details are provided below if you would like to make a complaint about a potential breach of one of the following provisions or have an enquiry about labelling, composition or advertising of food, approved auditors or the food safety requirements of State food businesses (eg. State school tuckshops).

Responsibilities

• Enforcement of the following provisions of the Food Act 2006 and Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code:
  -   s32  Handling of food in unsafe way
  -   s33  Sale of unsafe food
  -   s34  False description of food
  -   s35  Handling and sale of unsafe food
  -   s36  Handling and sale of unsuitable food
  -   s37  Misleading conduct relating to sale of food
  -   s38  Sale of unfit equipment or packaging or labelling material
  -   s39(2) to (4) Compliance with Food Standards Code (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of the Code
       relating to labelling, composition and advertising, contaminants and residues, foods requiring
       market clearance).
  
  
• Surveillance and investigation of food complaints and food-borne illness outbreaks
  
  
• Administration of food safety management requirements in State food businesses
