Our purpose

The Queensland Rural and Remote Clinical Network was established in accordance with The Queensland Health Clinical Networks Policy to provide an opportunity for clinicians and network members to engage in planning and priority setting and to guide the effective and safe delivery of rural and remote health services through advice to the Minister, Queensland Health and the Hospital and Health Services on issues including:

  • clinical standards for rural practice
  • ruralisation of existing guidelines
  • rurally appropriate clinical service delivery
  • appropriate performance measures for rural services
  • clinician support and workforce development
  • service innovation
  • outreach services
  • community responsiveness
  • patient support and involvement
  • private public partnerships
  • responding to demographic changes including the effects of mining and related industries.

We would like clinicians who provide services to rural communities, to be involved.

Membership is made up of health sector clinicians and stakeholders interested in participating in the network. To join the broader network, please email your name, and preferred contact  to the co-ordinator at Rural_Network@health.qld.gov.au.

The steering committee is comprised of a balanced, multidisciplinary mix of Queensland Health clinicians currently working and living in rural and remote communities, representatives of general practice and consumer organisations. The committee oversees the strategic and operational activities of the Queensland Rural and Remote Clinical Network, driving forward the decisions made by the members and overseeing the various working groups.
