Essure permanent contraceptive device
Essure is an implanted device that provides permanent contraception for women, however is no longer being sold or implanted in Australia.
Following reports of side effects and complications in women with Essure devices, hospitals in Australia were sent advice from the Therapeutic Goods Administration in August 2017 requiring that the Essure device not be used in any further procedures.
